How does the term “whore” get pronounced correctly when the object isn’t being used?

I know the definition is incorrect, but how does it make sense? Like, wouldn’t it be better to just say "whore"? Like I said, the object isn’t being used right? So how is it better to say "whore" to a woman, or like, “whore” to a guy, or something?
