I'm a fairly novice torrenter but I had a system that worked for me.

I was using an Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet exclusively to download torrents. I was using uTorrent, with a Surf Shark VPN and casting to my TV / Projector using the Web Video Cast app. It wasn't without its hiccups but worked for the most part.

Well, the Fire Tablet no longer boots up so I need a new solution.

My needs are pretty simple as I'm only looking to d/l torrents and stream them within 1 of the 2 rooms in my house.

I've read a bit of info on Plex, Nvidia Shield, Raspberry PI but am pretty quickly getting turned around on the best option. I own a macbook but don't want to torrent on it.

I would appreciate any suggestions based on my needs.
