Because it's nothing but a PR stunt. $14m isn't going to substantially help enough people to matter much when people are still battling the basics like the elements. Also, in case you have noticed over the past decade, Trump raising money for anything means it goes in HIS pocket. How are people so gullible about this still?

They'd scrap FEMA and replace it with Go Fund Me. While accelerating climate change.

Good article, detailing why this is a bad idea (less regulated, a percentage of "relief" goes to line a for-profit company's profits, potential for getting mixed up with campaign donations, etc)
