Docker containers or separate device for torrenting?

The original post: /r/torrents by /u/The_Editor on 2024-12-09 13:49:38.

Hey all,

I just set up my N100 mini as a home media server, running Plex and some other services, including a samba share of a 14Tb external HDD.

I was going to set up a completely separate Raspberry Pi torrent box with Radarr/Sonarr/Overseerr/Deluge/NordVPN and have that do all the torrenting work and drop the files on the 14Tb network share hosted by my N100.

Then, I discovered docker...

I've set up the RasPi with headless Ubuntu Server with all the services in individual docker containers... But it's got me thinking, why not just run this on the N100?

Originally I wanted the torrent box separately so it could operate through NordVPN, whilst my Media Server is on the standard WLAN to make remote connections to Plex simpler... But if my services are containerised in Docker then I can just do it all in one box right?

Any thoughts?
