Makes sense, I’ve been using running and trail shoes for long hikes when the conditions allowed it - AKA not freezing : spring… I’ve used them extensively on 40km hikes in a day and they held me two years. I want boots for extreme conditions -
I have recently gone to a pair of La Sportiva approach shoes and I am very happy with them. More supportive than Altras but excellent grip (far better than Altras on steep dirt and gravel and better for mid and large rocks and boulders), quite lightweight and naturally water resistant.
I have heard good things about La Sportiva approach shoes, what sort of terrain are you using them on?
I hike in the Intermountain West (USA) region primarily. So, anything from packed dirt forest floors, mud, gravel, stream crossings and boulders.
