I would love if someone had informed comments about the trends in this map.
Why is it so popular in Italy?
Is it unpopular under totalitarian governments because it puts a target on your back?

It assume that people using it from totalitarian regimes will use a proxy or something to mask their traffic.

This is one of the most abstract maps I can recall seeing, and I love how familiar yet disorientingly alien it feels at the same time.
