Redhats are just coming at things emotionally. Facts don't matter. Feelings and in-group matters. I don't think there's any fixing them. The best we can hope for is getting them to join a better group.
I get the metaphor, but the sky is black more often than it's blue. It's black every night, but it's only blue on clear days.
In fact, one of Trump's first actions after becoming President the first time was to lie about the sky being blue (it was grey.)
