I liked playing Ace Combat 7 on the Steam Deck when I'm on an actual airplane during takeoff. I pull up when the airplane takes off so that the G-forces are simulated in game.
I only ever had one Ace Combat game, and it must have been before the series got really gnarly because the one I remember was fairly realistic, other than being about 2 fictional countries and having anime-like dialogue and being controlled very arcadey over a more simulation-like style.
Saw a clip of a more recent one (possibly 8, idk) where they were fighting some kind of monster in their jet.
- Yellow 13 or Erusea ring any bells? Sounds like you played 4. Controls have stayed similar since then, the arcadey style is still strong in 7. 8 isn't out yet, hence the rituals.
  
  I am pretty sure I played 4 or 5. It was way back on PS2. Probably 5 because the cover looks very familiar.

Ace Combat is a sick series. Just played it once, but I remember the gameplay being a good mix of realism and arcade
As a kid/teen I played the hell out of 4 and 5. I revisited the series for 7 and it felt like they left a lot of storytelling out. Gameplay(combat and controls) was still great though.
