I know there are women who work their entire lives in tech and their families are all in their 50s. It's hard to make a living when you're 90% of the population. My sister made over a million dollars a year before she got married, and she's now retired and making more money than her husband. \n\nI've never had a female boss, so it's hard for me to feel comfortable telling my sister that "you're a woman, you should know this, but you shouldn't treat your coworkers as potential customers" and "you should treat your customers as people." I wish it was easy enough for her to just say it, but I can't help but think of that quote again. \n\nI feel like I'm making a huge mistake, and it's affecting my career. I'm a software engineer and I know how hard it is to make ends meet, so it's not that big of a deal. I just wish I could take the advice of my sister and tell her that the vast majority of men have it worse than me. I wish I could tell my brother that my parents are both millionaires.
