Bought some white lithium grease for my car doors earlier today. They're no longer squeeky.
Now I have a can that is 98% full, and I probably won't need any more until a couple of years.

Have we efficiently established that making a squeaky door no longer squeaky is the single most dull activity imagineable?
What about lubricating wood drawers?

Don't forget to hit up your house. Door hinges, locks, literally anything metal on metal.
On anything else I use bike chain lube. I once bought a can, because it was the only thing I could find nearby a day I was out of WD40.
My local bike shop had bike chain lubricant that works like WF40, except it does not run off as easily. I now use that for everything where I'd otherwise use WD40.
On my car doors, on the other hand, I avoid oil based lubes. I recently bought a new (to me) car, and I wanted to avoid the oily gunk buildup I had around the door hinges on my old car. One started squeaking, and I noticed some white lube having been used, so I figured it must be lithium grease.
WD40 isn't a lubricant though. Good thing they upgraded you.
I’ve had the same tube of white lithium grease that I’ve used since 2009. Every time I’ve needed a touch of grease I’ve dipped a finger tip in it. It’s finally at the point where even crushing the cardboard and with my fingers all the way in I can just almost not reach any grease. Soon I’ll have to get a popsicle stick to get that last little bit. Maybe 5 years of grease left?
Cut it open and you can probably get another use or two
I inherited a tin can of the stuff from my father that I'm pretty sure was the first can ever made.
it's a bit dented but it still has 95% of it remaining.

What part(s) of the garage door do you lubricate? I'm sure I have some grease around like everyone else in this thread
Don't do regular WD. Has to be special. Think white lithium like op said is fine. Anywhere that moves. Hinges on door. Inside of wheels. Drive chain, Spring (careful dont kill yourself) Not on track.
I saw a YouTube where you can replace the rollers with nylon rollers to make it super quiet.
They're already pretty quiet and smooth, they just haven't been lubed since I bought it.

Ha, I bought lithium grease for a motorcycle teardown. At the time it only came in a 3 pack of grease gun tubes. I used about a 1/2 tube and had the rest for 20 years. Lol

Dull mens car meet where we just meet up to share the various cans and tubes of lubricant we bought and can never use up. You'd probably still have 80% left.
That actually sounds weirdly fun; A Lemmy/DMC car meet-up where it is simply prohibited to bring an interesting vehicle.
We can discuss lubricants, glove compartment contents, and everyday events from the year when the car was built.
