US and EU strike trade deal setting 15 percent tariff

This is the most terrible trade “deal” I’ve ever seen signed.

What US gets:

keeps 15% duties on EU exports with a guarantee that EU won’t retaliate
EU buys absurd amount of energy from the US
EU promises big investments in the US
EU buys even more military equipment from the US

What EU gets:

nothing

The EU gets time to move away from the US and build their own alternatives with reliable allies.
But yes, this isn't the US of old where mutual benefit was the goal. This is "the US gets whatever it can take and fuck everybody else".
- But is EU actually gonna do this or is the plan to just wait it out when the clowns term is up and then hope for the best?
- Moving away is the opposite of pledging to do massive investments in the US and getting dependent on the American military equipment and energy

- Yes. The idea is to nudge the US customers into buying a domestically produced equivalent instead, which then becomes relatively cheaper.
Buying from them energy will be mostly gas, which is destined for the gas hungry northern europe countries, for heating. This is counter intuitive but it makes sense. The dollar is on a sharp decline facing the euro, so more gas is bought for less money. The objective should be to stockpile gas reserves while moving away from russian gas imports and expand the sustaible energy grid and power reserve infrastructure.
The Big Orange is placated for the imediate time and life goes on.
The EU does not have the authority to mandate companies to establish bridge heads in foreign soil or anywhere, for what that may matter. So, if some companies decide to invest there it will be to soak up money from that market. But considering the political instability there, it will be a high risk endeavour. And lla long term one, as well. So long that it will be easy to camouflage intended delays with accidental ones.
What equipment? The planes deals are running away, to countries already in european soil, like France, Sweden and even Turkey. Maybe ammunition? What else? Factories are being retooled in Germany to produce weaponry. I think Austria and Poland are doing the same. Sweden and Finland... well.
These "negotiations" are laughable, at best. I refuse to accept the notion that all the people at those meetings did not realize it was for show and at the first opportunity all will be discarded, by any side.
What is the EU supposed to invest on in the US? And how the fuck are they going to impose this on member states? Which countries are going to take the hit and do this investing and buying of military equipment/gas (ok, gas is to replace russia in the north)?

- That’s literally what we did. Germany wanted to keep their car exports flowing to USA, and now we are all gonna pay the price of having to buy all the American goods

It means Monday for market opening it’s back to normal then Wednesday it’s trade war until Friday where he will put on hold.
All those headlines are useless tbh. It is just postering as of now.
As far as I understand it, no. It's just American consumers that gets taxed. Sucks for EU businesses though because all their products will be 15% more expensive.

  Regarding the latter - Germany and France are (hopefully) not that stupid, but for instance Poland which spends the biggest share of its GDP on military, already buys foreign stuff instead of investing into domestic production, so I am afraid the rest could go with it. Many of our leaders are just plain stupid (I hope, or worse case: corrupt)
