Transgender student denied a bathroom in Missouri

The school district, in Missouri, refused to let him use the bathroom on his first day of school. When his lawyer tried to appeal, the board denied his right to use the boys bathroom. It is the school districts responsibility to ensure that students are properly protected against discrimination. The lawsuit is currently pending in the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, which has already ruled that Missouri cannot force transgender people to use the wrong bathroom. Heres the official explanation from the ACLU: "The school district was told that its decision to refuse to let transgender students use the correct bathroom was in violation of Missouris Establishment Clause. The court denied that the school district could discriminate against transgender students because they identify as the opposite gender or another. The court said there were only two genders: male and female. The ACLU of Missouri is representing the transgender student in this lawsuit. They also are suing the districts policy on restrooms and locker rooms for transgender students that has been cited in this case.
