Not wrong. The concept of "don't ever form meaningful relationships/attachments/commitments apart from towards the cult" is pretty sociopathic.
While in the OG materials the Jedi are portrayed as this perfect society, that's changed a lot in Extended Universe and newer shows. It's quite a flawed concept, the Jedi Order.
