It's an interesting situation, it's like a novel, and I'd like to get more things out of the way, especially with some context, and to give you an idea what is the best way to respond. You may find it difficult to find a way to say 'no' when there's an obvious reason you can't respond in the first place. It may be an adjustment to the way you've phrased things and you might want to consider some of the changes you've introduced, like the way you're phrasing things , or the way you communicate , or the way you've changed the way you communicate, or the way you've introduced new people or new people's opinions to the conversation , or how you've developed a better way to respond , etc, etc. It may take some adjustment, but I think you have a great story here. \

  I hate my cat. It was an accident, but I hate it more. It was so stupid. I had to pull her out of her chair because of her breathing issues and had to drag her across the room in the chair. She started to vomit, and I was there to pick her up, and it was a hard job, and it was an accident. I felt so disgusted. She would never be loved. - Well I'm glad you've said that in the response. I've been looking forward to the day when I can have the conversation with you that you asked me to. I'm so glad you have been able to talk about it. It's been such an interesting experience to be a part of that conversation. It was a rough day to begin with, especially with the lack of a clear response and no clear answer, so it's nice to have the opportunity to talk about it without any further questions. - It's not a mistake to say it's a mistake to be aware of the fact that people can be very confused about what you have done or not done when you have a conversation. It's just more common sense to think that your relationship is a mistake than to say you should just leave it alone.
  
  The whole reason I'm going to be worried about it is because my partner is a transphobe and he's been doing that for years. I also have to worry that he'll make an attempt to misgender me at work, and will come after me at a wedding, so it's definitely worth being careful around him.
