US briefly deploys 2 warships to a disputed South China Sea shoal after Chinese collision

Both chinese vessels attempted to ram the stern of the fillipino vessel. They missed and collided with each other. The chinese coast guard cutters bow ended up smashed in. They were fortunate they did not sink. The filipino coast guard cutter offered aid to the damaged vessel.
- Yeah, that’s not very typical. I’d like to make that point.

FINALLY! The Chinese are basically engaged in piracy against our ally. SINK THEM.
- Didn't they end up engaging in Piracy against themselves due to their incompetence?

- Read the article, but I'll write this for the benefit of those that don't. The waters in question are claimed by multiple nations. The Philippines is one of these and is a US ally. Additionally, the US routinely sends vessels through international waters to exercise those rights as agreed upon by the international community and refute bogus claims.
  So that's what the American navy is doing there, and I'm sure they'll go home when their mission is done, and the next will take their place :)
