I was too old by the time it came out (I watched Buffy and Angel!) but every so often some clips will be on my YT shorts reel and, I'm NGL, I see why it was and still is popular.

We're probably around the same age and I didnt watch it until a few years ago. I watched the first 5 (or 6?) seasons and it was fantastic. It has that "monster of the week" style that is sorely missed these days.
I'd heard that the show shifts tone quite drastically after the main story arc concludes so that's why I didn't watch any further.

Go watch the first few seasons. They’re great. It started to get off the rails in the latter seasons as the writers were simply running out of ideas. No hate, it was on for 15 seasons. The formula can only be stretched so far.
I’d recommend stopping around seasons 8-10. Even then it’ll be a labour of love to get through those seasons.
