Don’t mess with perfection. They had lightning in a bottle for that show, and doing a reboot of it would be a crime against television.
The Wire was a perfect picture of that time frame. Make a different show about this time frame.
I agree with him, but I'd also like to know who a reboot would be for.
The Wire rode, and is still remembered for, the excellent writing and acting. Shit, even doing a scene repeating one word was fucking stellar. A reboot isn't going to have the same teams working on it. You're not going to keep fans of the original, so you're looking at trying to only pull in new blood for a show that is remembered as absolutely golden.
- it also struggled in the last season. Might be unpopular opinion but McNulty's plot in that last season is jumping the shark + Flanderization

This show came out before The Wire. Also set in Baltimore, also has a stellar cast and fantastic writing.

  There's one episode I'll never forget.
  Braugher, his partner, and a state cop go into a gas station to question the attendant.
  Andre asks the guy if he noticed anything strange around noon. The guy says no. Then the state cop asks if he saw anything that day, and the attendant rattles off all the information they need. Then Andre asks why he didn't mention this the first time.
  "You asked if anything happened around noon. All this happened at half past."
  Andre and his partner go out to their car. They sit quietly for a minute. And then Andre delivers the line I've been quoting for years.
  "Have you ever noticed that some people just work harder at being stupid?"
