I've been using punctuation marks for the past 30 years. It's mostly a matter of doing my best to not overdo it or miss out on a word or two. I don't have a habit of just writing "I'm sorry" or "I'm sorry". It just happens in spurts or when things get to a point where it gets a little irritating or awkward to type. A few years ago it was "I am sorry" or "I am sorry". It's become more of a habit now. It's easier to say things with a capital M and less of a period.
