what I find disgusting about this is her repeated attempts to get the dogs to attack..very disgusting and she deserves jail time, AND that nobody seems to give a crap about cats until they are dead. if people actually leashed their cats AND monitored them, this entire incident wouldn't have happened.

I'm sure I'll get downvoted but I agree that cats being outdoors is a problem. Not only do they kill birds constantly, fucking up the ecosystem, they shit places and it smells awful, plus clearly many of them breed and that contributes to terrible suffering. Then things like this can happen. Cats can mostly take care of themselves but that's no excuse.
Yesterday I was walking my dog who was doing nothing but sniffing and peeing like a dog would, when a cat jumps out of the bushes, scratching him, hissing, and growling evilly. My dog did not react aggressively. He's 20% pit bull genetically so I'm sure this community would side against him automatically but he literally just kinda freaked out and jumped to his left to escape the attack. I tried scaring the cat off just to communicate that wasn't okay but the damn thing hissed instead of backing off an inch. Then it proceeded to follow us in a stalking manner. The only thing stopping the cat from killing my dog appeared to be ability.
Tldr; you're right, two things can be true at once.

every damn time, the logic just stops when a free roaming cat enters the picture. I'm sorry but if I'm on my property, and your free roaming cat enters my property where my dog lives. don't expect to have a cat. I would never do what the lady in the article did, that's sick and disturbing. but you cannot hold me responsible, for your unsupervised animal that tresspassed into my property and not expect to have consequences.
we don't know the full story, but you can't remove blame from the cat owner who WILLINGLY lets they cat roam without supervising it.
do that with a 2 year old and see what happens. why is it ok with a cat.

Fukckcat owners they are not supposed to be wondering free. If a cat gets into my yard and my dog kills it yes it is the cat owners fault. I don't know how many missing car posters I see plastered up keep track of your pets.
