Short reminder that the German president is not comparable to the usual role of a president in other countries, e.g. the U.S.
It is by far not so powerful and has (apart from some key functions during the legislative process) mainly representative tasks.-
I think the bigger news is that if it happens she's going to step down as President of the European Commission.

Ah yes, true that. Though I never imagined her going to be chosen for a third term.

I had to check and it seems you are right. Next vote of EU Commission president would normally be in 2029, so she would have to go two years early.

I thought she was not popular in Germany..But might be forwarded as a candidate for Presidency by the CDU, it seems.

She isn't, but the president isn't elected by popular vote but from parliament.

I hate her so much.
But for the greater good i would happily take the L to have her as "my" Bundespräsidentin. Even though all i want is that she rots in hell. But atleast she would have less opportunities to fuck over all the people of europe in that rather representative role on a national level. She doesnt deserve it one bit. But getting her out of the EU is good thing.
We could get Draghi instead...
