Even the boss fodder does 2 masks of damage sometimes

Lots of enemies do double damage, half of them are flying enemies that always stay a nanometer too far away to hit throwing ranged attacks that feel like homing missiles, common enemies take 4-15 hits to kill, random background objects will often release explosives when you destroy them, benches are few and far between... It's like team cherry only listened to the most hardcore hollow knight fans while making the game. I'm loosing my fucking mind here.
I agree with every point except the benches. I think there's quite a few more of them.
I'm all for hardcore stuff, I've beaten Hollow Knight on steel soul mode and all the bosses on radiant difficulty in godhome, but this is my first play through, I'm just trying to learn what button combos are gonna keep me alive.
Yeah, I"m finding it extremely annoying that my 6 hp is more like 3 effective hp almost all the time. Even when platforming!
There's a bit of me that wonders if they wanted to give Hornet 3 HP but then realised it'd be annoying for certain things and also would make her look weaker than the Knight.
