A local Hamilton man has been ordered by the city to take down his security cameras that he has on the outside of his house, despite his claim that his footage has been useful in crime investigations.
Dan Myles says he has 10 security cameras outside his home on MacNab Street North in downtown Hamilton, and he says he needs them.
Hope he finds a good lawyer. I wouldn't put up with that.
As long as they're all on his own property and focused on property that's within public view (ie not explicitly focused on private backyards or into peoples windows, that sort of thing); the city has no right to dictate how many cameras he operates.
"People in public have a right to privacy" someone said I think in the show (can't rewatch it right now). It was along those lines. But no,, no they do not have that right.
