This meme resonated with me, 'cause I'm so tired of seeing in History classes that "Cuba failed" again and again. Cool meme.
In 2021, when Italy was suffering hundreds of deaths per day from Covid, it wasn't any capitalist nation that helped Italy. It's EU co-members wanted money and austerity to give even meager support.
No, rather it was tiny socialist Cuba who deployed the doctor brigades in the worst-hit European country, putting themselves at risk selflessly, and helped save thousands of Italian lives, without ever asking anything in return.
I went to Cuba a bit ago. It's really an amazing country. Yes the people didn't have much, had to improvise, didn't have a ton of opportunities. But you know what I didn't see? Homelessness and starvation like you'll see here in the world's richest country. They have free healthcare and (as I understand it) housing.
I can only imagine what it could be without the blockade. It's infuriating to think about honestly.
Kinda surprised China hasn't just said fuck it and invested heavily in Cuba, they are the new dominant world power after all
China is already heavily investing in Cuba. Sadly, it will take time to finally show the results.
Also, Vietnam and Russia are helping a lot.
Thank you for this. I needed some hope today.
Imagine what could happen if more countries around the world had successful revolutions and freely traded with one another while less countries were enslaved by the US
