I’ve been out of it for over 15 years, I don’t even know where to go and what precautions to take anymore :(
For music I like to use squid.wtf to download high quality music from qobuz
Same. I used to have invitations to private sites for music and movies, then I just gave into streaming. Now I want to go back to torrenting.
It's gotten a little better actually!
You can set up qbittorrent to search multiple places and download them. You should have a VPN so your ISP doesn't get grumpy with you but it's easy to set up. Here's a short video tutorial:
And if you want to get really advanced and turn an old computer into a piracy server I would recommend looking into YAMS. Admittedly this is much less easy, but once it's set up you legitimately have a streaming platform better than any other
Yeah I use Jackett with BitTorrent on a raspberry pi that I permanently connect to a VPN (set the interface in QB to the VPN). If you commit and pay for a year or more of VPN you can get deals around $3/month. Have had no issue getting most of what I want, except for rarer music, which I use Soulseek to grab.
I also rip blurays from the library sometimes, guarantees a perfect rip, sometimes I have codec issues with what I can find on QT.
Huh did not know QBittorrent can search. I always use 1337x.to, which weirdly isn't blocked on my ISP and hasn't been for years, despite them blocking almost every other side. Also nyaa.si for anime stuff.
The thing that always worries me is that QBittorrent and VLC are surely full of security vulnerabilities... I did check the torrent library that QBittorrent uses and it at least has fuzzing set up but still... Makes me nervous. Haven't been hacked ever and I haven't heard about any infected files tbf. Honour among pirates perhaps.
I can't say that I ever stopped sailing the high seas... I slowed down for a bit when Netflix was showing promise, but then all the TV studios started pulling their copyright away from Netflix and I saw what was coming.
An avalanche of Netflix clones.
I noped the fuck out and went back to my ship.
It's 2025 and we know how shitty he is, can we please drop the Drake meme template already
I got one of my own OC if that's better https://i.imgur.com/lC7LbDt.jpeg
OC is better because it's personal, I'm so tired of seeing the same exact templates for a decade
Move to the island of Saint Martin just to torrent.
Become Pirates of the Carribbean.
QBitTorrent, open the kinda-almost hidden "Search" tab and be happy
Or use Frostwire, which has a hugely more obvious "Search" button https://www.frostwire.com/
Disney doesn't need your money.
They never did
That cheap kitchen knife is the least pirate-y thing I can think of.
My remote...
My apps...
It's funny how the pre-defined crap in the remote and the start screen did a lot in pushing me away from Android TV and into doing my own solution with a Mini-PC and Linux.
Oh, and it has a remote too: one of these
Are these apps good, never heard of them.
Yeah. Stremio is basically streaming whatever you want. There's loads of plugins to choose from, but obviously Torrent.io is the most popular...then probably PornHub. I have some live sports sources like the NHL and Formula 1 added in too. Everything stacks into shelves like any other streaming app.
SmartTube is YouTube. Even though you could also just have that in Stremio too, I like it separate. Built-in adblocking, auto-skip sponsor stuff or like and ubscribe speels. Has a lot of awesome settings and modes that makes it so much better than the YT app in general.
Both are APKs you can download with the TV browser.
