The Communist (1957)
What do you think of this movie, comrades?
A film about a young communist Vasily Gubanov, who arrived to work on the construction of a power plant in Zagora after the civil war. Here he has to not only fight plunderers, get building materials, but also protect his love.
Boxer can't catch a break. I really loved this movie. I'm gonna have to sit on my thoughts with it for a while. It definitely sparked some joy and sorrow, and I have questions about other's interpretations. But, it struck one cord for me in particular that has been weighing heavily on me as I continue to seek revolution at home. People fundamentally suck. No matter what one might do to try to help them they'll kick you into the dirt and dumb your body in a shallow grave. It's is supremely ironic to me that America managed to convince it's working class, people for whom their job is often their entire identity, that a party literally "for the people, by the people." is their worst enemy.
