  On the other hand, Steamboat Willie is now public domain, so you can make that Mickey (but not modern Mickey and not in a way that violates trademark) as racist or antiracist as you want. Disney can do nothing about it. If you want to redub Steamboat Willie so that he is reciting Hitler's Fourteen Words, you have the right to do that. If you want to edit CGI pride flags into Minnie's hands, you can do that too. That's the beauty of Disney losing their copyright on Steamboat Willie. Mickey is not just doing his job anymore because Mickey no longer has a job to do. Mickey now belongs to all of us and fuck Disney.
