he has no opinions that matter. This is all optics. He couldn't care less if abortion was outlawed altogether or made freely available to all.
Does. Not. Care.
- He cares just not in the way conservatives think he does. He doesn't care about the babies, mothers, rights or any of that... he cares about the votes. What can he say that will give him the most votes. Can't be to supportive of abortion, and can't be too against it. He's trying to find that sweet spot.
  
  Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he "cared" about the courts in the exact same way, and look how Kavanaugh and Cannon and so on are working out. He doesn't care, but he brings along true believers who do.
  
  So he's catering to the want of the people. Based, for once.

- His line will become the party line. Or this will be another compromise he pushes to get elected then reneges on, like his Healthcare plan that is still 2 weeks away.
  
  Whenever infrastructure week wraps up he'el be right on it.
I wouldn't bat an eye if he privately favored a 1-week abortion or whatever.

If he "privately expresses" an opinion, why then must we be bludgeoned by it? Can't wait till I no longer need to know or care anything about #45.
- Because it gives us as good an idea as anything can what kinds of policies he'd enact in office and another reason to stop him from getting there
- On the upside, if this doesn't weigh high in his mind, he'll probably make it low priority, which is good I think.
