How to get used to hand screen disconnect on digital drawing tablet (crosspost)

Unfortunately, the only thing that will likely make a big difference is practice. I'm a pretty mediocre, if I'm being generous, artist but love a good drawing tablet (got my company to buy me a Wacom!!). It's a skill like any other (think the hand-eye coordination of using a mouse or video game controller). If you're really feeling uncomfortable, maybe try some "digital coloring books" or similar.
