I think Lemmy should be huge. Think about how many subreddits exist for every niche. It would be great if those places could exist free of corporate influence.
Federated platforms are significantly more effective than centralized ones at mitigating the influence of bad actors.
A much hyped fanfilm from the post Enterprise/pre-Disco days where fan films were all we had to keep us going. "Renegades" had a good amount of hype around it because it had a real budget and the cast they managed to get. Unfortunately money can't buy taste and the actual script is pretty bad.
I echo what you said elsewhere, if I get a goofy action movie (or better) then I won't be disappointed and it will be nice to see the Discovery-era one last time.
Scott Bakula is a good actor but he sold the adventurous naivete of S1-2 Archer much better than the moody and distraught Archer in S3. Thankfully season 4 went back to the original spirit.
Why does the other persons energy matter? If someone requests not to be called something and you continue to call them that then you are kinda being a jerk. It's not the same as correcting someone's grammar.
In my book a single data point (a phone number) is not "vast amounts of metadata". Again, I have never seen someone describing Signal as a “paragon of privacy and security”, Signal itself certainly does not say that (It's presented as an improvement over SMS).
Where did you read that they are collecting vast amounts of metadata? Not challenging your claim just that I have been trying to find more info and came up empty. Signal says "we don’t collect analytics or telemetry data" but that's about it.
I'd be curious to hear your criticisms of Signal! While I haven't seen anyone describing it as a "paragon of privacy and security" I do think it is a highly accessible SMS replacement that is also open source, end-to-end encrypted, and operated by a nonprofit.
