  • I mean, yeah. If he's suspended at all. If he/you can come up with a good reason, likely no suspension.

    But please don't hurt doggies.

  • Depending on the state ( in the US) security guards can have all the same powers as real cops. Literal rent a pig. Also depending on the state, security guards are little more tham unglorified receptionists. The exact same job responsibilities, plus being cpr cert'd, for half or less the pay.

Which reminds, y'all be nice to receptionists. That job sucks. be dicks to security if you want to, most of them are only there for 3 months, and the ones who stay longer are probably bootlickers, so, y'know, you do you.

  • Well fuck. Is America about to invade America? I don't know how much more freedom I can take.

  • Hey, cool. Love it when y'all put yourselves. Make it easy to block. Thanks!

  • To my knowledge the federation is completely post monetary. But, we do see individual people who in it that use money. Riker mentioned a few times owing debts or being owed debts from card games and the like, iirc. I think it's largely a personal choice, as money is unnecessary in their society. Nothing that matters has a monetary cost, like shelter, food, etc. And luxuries within the federation itself seem to also be free at the point of use, but I think there is some kind of credit system in use. Sisko mentions using up a months worth of transporter credits to come home for dinner during his time at the academy, if I'm remembering right.

Given the whole schtick of being a post capitalist, but not quite fully communist, society that the franchise has, combined with my personal knowledge of various socialist ideas around transitionary societies, my best guess is that they function off a form of labor voucher. Non transferable credits to be used for whatever goods are restricted or scarce. But with some kind of loophole around the transferability when it comes to dealing with non federation members who still use money.

  • Not just Nazis. Sometimes Hindu, Buddhist and Jains, too. And then there are those like me, white, Western Dharmicish folks who will not use it, or defend it, but know about it's uses pretty intimately, and get nervous whenever the conversation comes up, because so not a Nazi

Fucking Nazis ruin everything they touch

  • Fair, but, like, do down votes actually matter on lemmy? Or, y'know, anywhere else for that matter? I'm not really bothered. I brought joy to a few people who thought it was funny. Lol.

  • Sing it with me now, folks: 🎶... o'er the laaaaaaand of the freeeee🎶

  • What movie is this? O.o

  • Them's is ominous minimonoliths. They're ominous. Listen closely and there's an intense humming noise that conjures images of the vague concept of mortality.

  • Liberals trust the government. Leftists do not.

  • I need more information about your culture, if you're willing. Are you in a western country? Are you actually in danger of being buried in salt? Is salt burial common in your country? In your religion? Is it a legal practice? I have so many questions, and if you're open to answering them, you'd make me very happy. Lol. But if not, I understand.

  • Make the jump, my friend. I did it. This was my reddit name, but I've slowly madethis my name basically everywhere, and it's so nice not having to remember usernames.

  • Oh, God, the track titles.

  • Reminds me of Ferengi. I've used the word, obviously, but I have such a strong association of the word with the way the Ferengi on star trek say it, that even when talking about plumbing or electrical sockets, I feel sort of gross saying the word. It just feels disrespectful. :/

  • You're a good person. Thank you.

  • If you get one, will you ping me? Lol

  • Exactly. I found it, she sold it. We flipped s lot of cool stuff, including a vintage chester Cheeto sign, a Budweiser mirror from a bar. Bunch of stuff.

  • "tramp art"

My mom sold on eBay in the early 2000s. Spent my formative years in thrift shops. Found a small balsa wood merry go round that had a fan at the top. Burn a candle, blades spun, horses went around. It was hand made, and she sold it for like 500 dollars. We paid a buck for it.
