Hi. First of all, super crazy that I return after like a year and a half of absence and you're reactivating the sub just now hahah, talk about coincidence. I'm not too sure I'll be too active so if you wanna mod just tell me.

Also, regarding the texts, I see and kind of agree with quite a few of these. This year is when I've most experienced this. Usually I would've just followed my own interest at the cost of the failure of a collective enterprise which I saw as inherently flawed. But this year the enterprise seems to want to yield results so I make mutual sacrifices to, under the criticism of fellow egoists who claim I'm sacrificing time and well-being when I could simply not do that, succeed collectively and thereby reap great benefits.

However, being able to have this opportunity does not imply a rejection to the previous methodology. If an egoist seeks my consent to exploit me with my consent, I will hide my intent to exploit him back for greater effectiveness and I will not care too much about the consequences for him if I don't see any long term benefit to maintaining the relationship.

Ultimately it seems like, if everyone is playing "fair" (where fairness can be very much a spook to which I so not subscribe unless it's a satisfactory situation) there is a benefit to playing along. It is also satisfying not to fuck over people who are being kind to you, and instead to seek to benefit them in some regard.

Is it me or egoist philosophy is particularly wordy? 👀 Maybe I just need to learn better English.

I would but my cares are pretty much gone rn. I don't have enough time to do anything nowadays except work, doomscroll and sleep. Much less to start messing with weird stuff and breaking my $2800 laptop for fun hahah. I think I'll keep it as it came. I hope Bill Gates one day wakes up and looks at a sneak pic of my balls. If I get fired I'll boot up my work laptop and install Arch on it though. Always wanted to try it!

All my mom does is browser and Office365. I tried to get her into LibreOffice and I saw her suffering through it for some time and decided to put her out of her misery by MAS'ing her Office.

I've tried quite a few distros on an MSI I got and it wouldn't recognize dual monitors with Nvidia drivers on any I tried. I went with fedora, Debian based ones, kde, etc. And none worked. Had to go back to Windows on that laptop.

Ah my work laptop had the same issue but as soon as I saw it didn't work I just switched to windows and it worked.

The only laptop I keep permanently Linuxed I use as a VPS lol. Got Nextcloud on it and a few bots.

Zero idea. Never worked on Android apps myself.

Following my message I tried to dual boot. Turns out my laptop is incompatible with default Nvidia drivers and my screen stopped working with it so after days of research and trying again, I had to go back to Windows, just to get the big monitor to have display.

Well, most of the time if you're gonna vote you wanna be aware of what you're voting for beyond "lemmy told me Sandra Buttocks is super cool and against electric guillotines for the poor". Takes some time to evaluate people, parties and ideas properly. I was kind of obsessed with that "evaluation", thought it was productive. Going to protests, being one in the hive, realized later I hadn't built a life and a career that would support me well. Swapped my priorities and now I earn well as a software engineer, am building a new life I thought wasn't possible for my family, moved them to another county instead of trying to replace the dictators cuz that's less realistic. Simple shit that builds up. Want free healthcare? Move to fee healthcare. More efficient than crying for it and becoming bankrupt.

You're statistically more likely to advance your own interests through direct action than by being one of hundreds of millions of voters. Licking the boot of the lesser of two evils is less productive than focusing on building the environment you want.
