  • PTO? Is that the spinny thing on the back of the tractor I would attach the mower/seed spreader to? If so, thinking back we never had much concern with it. Now I'm rethinking the wisdom of the adults in letting us preteens use it.

  • Interesting. In my territory's laws, you have to stop unless there is a dividing median. There's a road that has three lanes on each side plus a center turn lane, and all lanes therefore must stop.

  • I'd peg this one as a maybe. I have helped move foks onto the CT machine. I've wheeled patients into the x-ray rooms and watched as they get imaged before once again wheeling them to the next place. I'd say I have a fair bit of experience in this, and rarely do I see clothes actually being removed or them being cut off. Trauma? Sure, cut off the clothes (but only to the point necessary; you won't see pants cut off if CPR is started, just the top stuff).

If the purpose of the image wasn't near the belt line, like a chest X-ray, I could absolutely see this appearing as a side note way at the bottom.

  • Maybe I'm crazy or out of touch, but I've never asked these questions... because all of them but #6 and #7 should have been in the information given out long before I even get to the interview. Two/Five should at least be addressed by someone selling the company to you during the interview.

Six could be worded a bit better, because the interviewer is already going to have to clarify with you what pressure and laid back look like to you, and seven is probably better once the negotiation starts after the offer is begun.

  • Ugh, I feel unrepresented. I sort of remember where I was, read a bit to see if I recognize it, and then skip a little forward or backwards depending. I have definitely skipped entire chapters before because the style/sentences sounded like what I remember.

  • Strange, from memory it was the exact opposite. The brand names actually had decent flavor/texture, while the off-brands had humongous amounts of sugar, to the point where you actually taste the sugar rather than it just sweetening the overall flavor.

  • I'd bet there's a 'sweet spot' for age where the average person watching a movie can mentally overlook the adult in a teen role, while children and elderly can't be portrayed by a different age without it being a deliberate effect choice or farcical (though when I was learning makeup effects, I saw a ~25 year old turned convincingly into a 60+ person). Maybe it has to do with ease of an adult actor compared to a teen, or maybe it's because there are just more of the 'young' adult actors in the pool than readily accessible teenage actors. Maybe the hiring team wants to ensure they have someone who can act without being taught during the production, and the slightly older actors have more proven track records?

  • If I remember the story about it, van halen productions were way bigger than most, on the order of 18 semis worth of equipment compared to a normal production's two semis. The candy thing was a quick and dirty way to check that the venue had followed the instructions for everything else to the letter, because it would get complicated if they hadn't.

  • Aye, there's a pattern of breathing named after him. In respect to the possibility of him being its 'discoverer,' there was a greater demand on physicians to be more than medicine dispensers back then. While these days you have a pretty clear divide between MDs that treat patients and MDs that do research, it wouldn't surprise me if a physician in the late 19th century was formulating his own medications to test, and might have a hobby of experimenting with materials that didn't pan out as medication.

  • You're not wrong, but the extended roll is more likely going to make those three hits into two for a newer player anyway, and I'd say it usually turns 10 hits into 3, thus being a far better choice.

  • I see you already have a ton of recommendations, but I'll throw in the Zowie/BenQ mice. I've had mine for I think 6-8 years and it's still going strong. The only thing it doesn't have is the left/right wheel function. It looks like they've gone a little heavy on the 'gaming' focus in their branding, but the designs haven't changed much in the time since I bought mine.
