  • The thing everyone gets wrong about Chamberlain is that appeasement wasn't happening in a vacuum.

First is that thanks to Churchill, the UK never had a roaring 20s. First was the WW1 debt, and then Churchill, who was in charge of monetary policy, implemented a strict gold and silver policy that made trade with any other countries extremely disadvantageous for the UK.

So yeah, the UK started the Great Depression early.

So Chamberlain comes into power with three major issues.

First is a madman in Europe who every knew was going to start another world war.

Second was the fact that the UK didn't have a modern military.

Third was the fact that the UK didn't have an economy that could support modernizing the military.

So yeah, Chamberlain had to "appease" Hitler while he worked on the economy and ordered a massive buildup of short range fighter aircraft.

And that right there is the only reason the UK survived the Battle of Britain.

Then Churchill comes in and starts screaming about appeasement, badmouthing Chamberlain left and right. When Churchill himself made the conditions that lead to appeasement.

But that's how conservatives work. They cause a problem, then blame person who tries to fix it for not being magically able to undo the damage.

  • I think that had a part in it, but the joke that likely pissed Trump off the most was the "4th stage of grief, construction" line.

Calling out that Trump doesn't give a shit about Kirk, because it completely undercuts their use of Kirk as a reason to purge the left.

  • There was a white guy who found hanging a few days ago... Also in Mississippi but something like 100 miles away. I think it might have been before Kirk was shot...

Anyway, the conspiracy minded already lumped the two together without learning the details of either. As is now the custom.

  • TRN. That's what was on the bullet. Which is a manufacturing mark.

Other things written on the bullets imply that the shooter idolizes Nick Fuentes, and is, in fact, somthing called a Groyper.

As a note, Nick Fuentes hated Charlie Kirk.

  • Generative AI actually does have a few real uses. Most notable is in the generation of new protein sequences.

Not long ago, you had PhD's whose entire career was understanding a single protein sequence. Now we can generate thousands of properly folded proteins. Millions. Stuff nature never thought of.

Due to patent law, the biotech revolution is still a few years out, but it's coming.

You want an enzyme that breaks apart plastic? We can design one now and have yeast producing it within a day or two.

And there are millions more that we can now play with.

Anyway, there are a few more niche uses for generative AI. But then idiot CEOs decided to shove that shit into everything. To decidedly mixed success.

  • Ding dong ditching used to surge whenever that one episode of the Simpsons played.

    Because kids will be kids.

The injuries and deaths seem more linked to adults losing their God damn minds watching Fox News

  • A very active imagination there.

    The truth is vastly different.

It starts with John Casablancas. He started Elite Model Management. He would throw lavish parties where rich old men were invited. His models were required to attend the parties.

There were lots of drugs and rape and such, with a few cases of potential murder.

I'm 1988, Casablancas gave an interview to New York Magazine. He gleefully admitted to seducing a 14 year old. And also talked up his wild drug fueled sex parties.

Trump was also mentioned in the same issue. Trump is a known narcissist who obsessed over any mention of his own name.

Shortly after that 1988 article, Trump became friends with Casablancas.

Trump then introduced Epstein to Casablancas, but Epstein isn't actually as important to the story until later.

Trump and Casablancas held their Look of the Year contest at Trump properties a few years in a row.

Contestants, some as young at 14, were paraded in front of rich pedos in private shows.

Look of the Year was the same contest that allowed Casablancas to rape that 14 year old from the 1988 article.

Anyway, after hosting the contest for a few years, Trump signed up Ivanka, then 13, to be a model under Casablancas's agency, under the direct tutelage of Casablancas

Shortly thereafter, Trump bought the Miss Universe pageant franchise, which included the Miss Teen USA pageant.

Pageant contestants were required to attend Trump parties.

In the late 90s, the BBC did an expose on Elite Model Management and the rampant pedophillia. This forced Casablancas out of the agency.

This is when Trump created Trump Model Management. Shortly after, Epstein founded MC2 modeling.

The two tended to use the fame talent scouts and fixers for forging visas, but we're otherwise competitors in the Human Trafficking game.

  • Sadly there were Nazis in the US government before and during WW2.

The Dullas brothers are the prime examples. They spearheaded operation paperclip, which rescued Nazi scientists and moved them to the US.

The Dullas brothers are the reason why the US loved arming South American dictators from the 50s onward.

They also pulled a Japanese war criminal out of prison and put him in power in post war Japan.

  • Want higher birthrates? Just convince people that tomorrow will be better than today.

That's how you see a spike in birth rates.

To maintain a steady birthrate, just convince potential parents that the world will not be any worse for their children than it is today.

    See, easy.

  • The gameplay loop was solid, but not completely original.

But the lore of the world was interesting and was dolled out fairly well. Neat little chunks of lore that felt like a reward when you get them.

Add in great art and music, and you have a game that you can build a fan base on.

Add in the free expansions and fan friendly developer, and you get a robust fan base.

Which leads to expectations for the sequel.

  • Lenin, betrayed the revolution after losing an election to actual communists and then wrote about how betraying the revolution and stamping out those pesky communists is fundamental to communism. Somehow.

  • Employees in Japan are not okay. They're often expected to put in extreme overtime, regardless of actual productivity.

You have workers who regularly sleep under their desks, because the work culture is so toxic that they're low-key punished for daring to have a social life outside of work.

And there's also a birth rate crisis that's partially caused by that same toxic work culture.

You'll sometimes hear buzz about fixing the birth rate crisis, but never anything about the toxic work culture.
