I would say it's easier to censor the Internet, but the Internet is a much more useful tool for seeing who is interested in the content they want censored.

Next year you might want to announce the event earlier into the day, it feels like a lot of the world has already had their April 1st gone by, especially the social media aspect.

My boss had a similar mentality, a stranger on a plane next to him was freaking out because of turbulence on descent, my boss says to him "why are you panicking, either we land and you've freaked out for nothing, or we crash and we aren't around to freak out."
