I thought this was an Italian artisan but it says made in France. It's a fruity scent and a soap with a weird texture that lathers ok eventually once you've worked in enough water. Bit of irritation probably from the cinnamon.
Got it from a secret Santa and definitely not one of my faves
Same gear and recording two shaves here because I couldn't be arsed during the week
Soft heart sandalwood. Proof that a single note can resonate more powerfully than a chord. And possibly my favourite base. Not tons left so it's a good option for the next tub kill. I may keep a sample if I do go for the kill.
Gothic revival.
Second soap from Wickham a limited edition dupe of eucris I think. Good shave and a nice posh barbershop scent to my mind.
Now here's an artisan that @djundjila has called Sus. And to be fair the stories of poor quality control and taking money before soaps are made are fair criticism. But on the other hand if you get a good soap then it's pretty damn good stuff. Great lather and a scent like a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Tasty and one the kids often pick if I give them the chance to choose.
A secret Santa soap that definitely isn't one that is on my kill list because it's a momster and I don't believe I be have the patience. It's a beautiful scent, a darker green fougere, with some brightness but a smoky undetone. As a shaving soap MdC is a great performer at slickness. Post shave feel lacks compared to some of the modern artisans but no one is as slick in my book.
Can't believe I did a June to end of August run with this soap back in 22 as an unscented lather games to AA self challenge.
Unscented soaps suck, but the performance is good. By far the best UK artisan in my book. Also looking how little is left it's probably going to be my next kill attempt.
Caries bubbles - la marche du rasage
Aquatic fougere is probably how I'd see this soup. It has a green base with a very watery top. It's the only caties I own and is a little sample jar that I got early in my r/ days from kammander Kim in a pif or Christmas secret Santa. It gives me a bit of irritation which I always thought was the oakmoss but then varen doesn't so it must be one of the other notes.
Going to take a break before my tub kill to run through the den. Its pretty big for a normal person but probably small for this community.
I cleared most of the samples last year so I'm going to ignore the last few of those that I have - which leaves me with 20 soaps ( and 3 in transit/parked with onion).
I can't remember when I got each so it's going to be a rough chronological order from my early purchases through to today.
Wickham soap co. - ninfeo di eregia or however it's spelled.
A light, bright floral scent. Middling soap quality though.
Den tour day 11? 10?
Same gear
Smash by house of mammoth scented by barrister and mann.
Great soap, great scent and son in a pif from Ben himself.
Something on brand about me doing this a day late
