  • “The games in this collection contain offensive depictions of people and cultures rooted in racial and ethnic prejudices,” its warning reads. “These stereotypes are deeply harmful, inexcusable, and do not align with our values at Crystal Dynamics.

“Rather than removing this content, we have chosen to present it here in its original form, unaltered, in the hopes that we may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it.”

Ok, so don’t say it’s inexcusable then still work with it.

Also don’t tell me that it doesn’t align with your brand and then still work with it.

I’m not sure what racist stuff is in the game as I’ve never played them. I know this game is a product of its time, but if you need to release a statement like this, then maybe don’t remake the game.

With that being said, I’m not personally offended by the content of this game and I think if something is going to be remade as little as possible should be changed. So I think it’s the right call not to alter the game, but don’t put out some speech saying it’s inexcusable and then excuse it.

  • It seems Apple has an api that can detect and translate languages. Google and Microsoft also have one too.

I’m not an iOS developer, but there could be a few options to implement this feature.

Each message could be analyzed for the language and if it’s not the target language and is a supported language then just translate it.

You could have a button on the post that you can click to have it analyze through text and then translate it.

  • There are a lot of different translations apps out there. iOS even has translation built into the OS. I’m not sure why it’s not a standard feature in these apps. Maybe there isn’t a decent api for it.

I think meta text has a translate feature, but it’s not obvious to find.

  • Native English speaker here that is conversational in Spanish and learning Filipino.

I sometimes and interested in what people of other languages have to say, but if there is not an easy way to translate it in the app, I’ll just skip it.

Don’t really comes down to who you want your audience to be.

Since the app I use for Lemmy does not have translation built in, I’ll never read what you post in French. If it’s in Spanish, I’ll attempt to read it.

  • I discovered this game like two years ago and it got me super addicted. I can't believe how sucked in I got. I've had trouble getting into a second play through, I am not sure why. Maybe it is because the mystery is gone.

  • Baldur's Gate 3 is addicting. I think I am getting near the end of the main story, but I am not 100% sure. Pausing the game on the SteamDeck is the only reason I am able to sink so many hours into this game.

I'll say it again, SteamDeck is the only platform that I will game on from here on out. It is exactly what I have always wanted. A PC that acts like a console. I love the handheld aspect as I can be on the sofa or in bed with my wife while gaming.

  • To any Linux curious users,

I consider myself to be an intermediate Linux user. I have hosted applications and services on Linux servers in the cloud and use it as my primary operating system. I recommend Linux Mint. If you have an nvidia GPU, then I recommend PopOS as they have a version that has nvidia drivers pre-installed.

When I first started with Linux, I thought that Mint was less capable than other distros as it was the most user friendly. But I learned that you can do anything you want with any Linux distro. It is just that Mint is the least likely to give you trouble with random things.

With that all being said, you will have far fewer issues with Linux than you will with Windows.

Additionally, you can get legit troubleshooting steps for linux that actually work. With Windows it seems that there are 100 ways to possibly fix an issue and they feel like patching a sinking boat.

  • My wife and I are not having kids. If we are very elderly, we talk about how we would want to do something like this once the other one goes. We assume we will be alone as no one we know is having kids and we are all aging out of baby making age.

  • I am from the US, my wife is not. I live in her country and Disney releases a different app for each country.

This is a problem, because I have the US app store and she has the app store from her country. So, I cannot log into our disneyplus account on my phone. Or I can get the app and subscribe then, she can't login.

I'd switch my account to the country where we are living, but I can't or I'd lose access to some of my banking apps. So, I don't even have a way to watch it without getting two subscriptions.

  • As dictator for 1 day, my first act is to change all historical documents and records to show that I stated I would be dictator forever and that 100% of Americans support this.

Oh also if anyone protests or says they don’t support this it’s treason and they will be sentenced to death.
