Sorry if I was not clear. I wasn’t saying the next steam deck should switch to arm. Just down the line, they may switch to arm once the software is ready.
I’m assuming you meant to say you never heard of box86, but it allows you to run x86 software on arm. I’ve never used it.
I tried to use upscayl with just an iGPU in an 8700 and it was so slow, I wasn’t even sure if it was working. I can’t imagine a pi is going to do anything in any reasonable amount of time.
I think they could start work on the software now and even publicly support it. They don’t have to sell arm hardware yet, but it seems that things are heading away from x86 slowly.
I don’t know that it will be ARM as there has been interest in RISC. I think k companies will move to that and not have to deal with licensing. But performance will have to catch up to ARM.
I donated to Linux Mint once, I think it’s time to make another donation.
This time, I think I’ll donate to one of the emulator developers. I’ll have to take a look and see which platform is currently receiving updates pretty regularly. I’m learning towards ryujinx as that’s the main switch emulator I use. But I’m also considering pcsx2 as I really love that system.
Finally! I have been interesting in developing some apps for personal use, but I don’t want to pay a developer fee and go through the App Store. It’s so much hassle.
Oh, what a surprise…
