HMD Skyline: The mid-range Android that lets you fix it
  • Exactly!

I am in the same boat right now. I still use a Pixel 4a. It's a great device, has exactly the size and performance I need, perfect condition but I don't get updates anymore. It's insane that in a time where resources get a real problem this is still allowed. If they can't support it at least force them to open source the software/drivers or something.

HMD Skyline: The mid-range Android that lets you fix it
  • Yeah my exact thoughts. Repairable phones are mostly useless if the vendor blobs don't get updated anymore after x years. Until we have an open ecosystem, as we have on desktop PCs, repairable phones are only good on paper.

ThemeChanger 0.12.0 - now it can set the theme of libadwaita apps
  • Thanks for checking.

I just checked as well and on my system (arch, xfce) the file exists but it's a symlink, created by a theme I tried but doesn't exist on my system anymore ("qogir-gtk-theme-git"). After removing the symlinks it works.

I clicked apply in the app and a gtk.css and settings.ini files was created. The gtk.css file it's empty. Is that the intended behavior?

ThemeChanger 0.12.0 - now it can set the theme of libadwaita apps
  • Looks nice and useful thanks

I get this error using it for the first time.

[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/xxx/.config/gtk-4.0/gtk.css'

Considering that file doesn't exist the app might create it if necessary?

    Cheers

    Announcing the Ladybird Browser Initiative
  • They get most of their money from google for the "default search engine deal" make of that what you want. For me personally it doesn't sound fully independent.

Is pixel 4a too old for a new phone?
  • FYI: "Extended support" from a custom rom means the OS level software gets updated, not the device firmware. So you still end up with a not fully up to date phone.

Written from my Pxiel 4a. :)

Why I refuse to upgrade - 8 minutes video explaining why it's not that interesting to upgrade phones nowadays
  • Sadly there are no options. I don't really need a new phone, the hardware is still fine for me but not getting any updates sucks. At some point I might have to bite the bullet and get the 8a or something.
