That's a thing? Definitely going to look into this
I'm testing out Linux on my laptop, October 13 my desktop moves over too.
I'm reading Jason Scheier's book about Blizzard and it specifically says that subscriptions were already the norm for MMOs. In fact, battle.net was revolutionary at the time because it was free while a lot of contemporary systems charged by the hour
Where can I get death certified? Does CompTIA offer it?
Delisting has never meant it is removed from your library for a paid game, in my memory. Just means you can't buy it anymore
Lol our standup+parking lot is scheduled for an hour. Kill me.
I thought Amazon Music was a small up-charge on top of prime?
TIL I can use my stock as collateral in a mortgage
Ultra net worth individuals, especially ones like Jeff Bezos with a lot of his net worth tied up in one company, can take a personal loan using his stock as collateral to keep up his lifestyle without needing to sell (and be taxed on) anything. It's only really available for the 1%
Ken Bone was from 2016 I believe
Is this also on WhatsApp? I got all the other Meta junk off my phone except that, since I need it for some family abroad
End of an era :(
This is an interesting perspective, thank you. I definitely learned where Live Nation was getting most of their profits from when the water fountains were hidden on the other side from the food and drink vendors, and wanted $8 for a bottle of water (or $16 for a PBR!)
I do think that part of the Ticketmaster hate is them being the bad guy for the venues or artists with the prices etc, but they can definitely be doing more. My main issue is that venues can either exclusively use Ticketmaster or not at all, and all the hidden fees. Granted, if the artist chooses "all-lin" pricing it includes the fees, but it feels manipulative that I have to mentally add 30% to the price of tickets when I'm looking.
Most things are fine in moderation, demonizing everything you like is how you get miserable and crave them more
The town my parents live in would rather pay fines every year than build the state mandated amount of affordable housing and risk, gasp, lowering property values!
Exactly. I told her that 8gb might be fine for a year or two, but if she wants this thousand plus dollar laptop to last four years she needs to invest the extra money now. Especially once she told me she might want to play Minecraft or Shadow of the Tomb Raider on it
My sister just bought a MacBook Air for college, and I had to beg her to spend the extra money on 16gb of memory. It feels like a scam that it appears cheap with the starting at price, but nobody should actually go with those "starting at" specs.
Phone maybe, but not a SIM card with data. Although you can do a lot without a SIM card if your school has public WiFi I guess
I strongly believe that a large part of the reason China is so strict with underage phone and game restrictions is because the parents are at work for too long to do any real parenting. Ideally parents should be the ones making those choices and actually monitoring their kids, but since I don't have kids I can't really say for myself.
I've been boycotting it for a while but honestly it's not hard. If I'm going to spend Starbucks money on a drink there are so many better places around.
