  • Apparently he's gone on strike to try and force the move. Newcastle aren't even against letting him go. They just wanna bring in a striker first, only issue is no one seems to wanna go there. They're gonna end up with Nicholas Jackson 😂

  • I saw something a while back that suggested there might be issues with that.

  • I would go one further and say the left side has gone as far as it can. Martinelli doesn't have the mentality of a starter but is a very very good squad player. The fact that he tried to emulate Trossard's style and hasn't progressed proves that. As for Trossard, he's just limited and the easiest to upgrade upon.

  • You have to think of it like this

    • Havertz/Gyökeres
    • Saka/Madueke
    • Martinelli/Trossard
    • Ødegaard/Nwaneri
    • Rice/Merino
    • Zubimendi/Nørgaard
    • Lewis-Skelly/Calafiori
    • Timber/White
    • Gabriel/Kiwior
    • Saliba/Mosquera
    • Raya/Kepa

On top of that we have Zinny, Jesus, Dowman, Lokonga and Nelson. All of which we desperately want to sell, minus Dowman. Not to mention some other kids like Salmon. I think we'll push to try and get Rodrygo on loan too, so the problem won't be not enough option, it's going to be giving everyone enough minutes.

I think the smart business is to bring in Eze, but him coming in will worry and unsettle Merino, Dowman, Nwaneri, Martinelli, Trossard and Madueke.

  • So the narrative coming out is that now Ethan's signed, we don't need Eze and that's actually crazy. Ethan was always staying and Eze was supposed to be unrelated. Also no matter how much we like Ethan, he's not shown glimpses of being an assist king in the making.

What I actually think is the case is that with Dowman impressing in preseason, we feel confident enough in him that we're determined to give him minutes this season.

Despite all that though, I do still want Eze. I think we can bring out the best in Ethan with Eze, Gyökeres and Saka as the runners ahead of him. Not to mention that Arteta said last year he believes that Ethan can play as a striker too.

  • Japanese companies tend to either lead the way in terms of innovation or drag their heels.

In terms of cars, I think it's just ignorance. They do a lot of sales in cheaper markets and to Americans, so that tints their thinking. Unfortunately, it'll mean they'll die out as it really looks like the likes of BYD and Xpeng are here to stay and since Japan are so determined to give up their spots, they'll be taken.

That said, this might be what pushes them fully towards robotics.

  • I think what the article is trying to say, albeit poorly, is that Honda is a huge player in the automobile space and the fact that they're not committing to EVs might make other car makers wary.

  • It's definitely too early to judge, but it's not just this game, there's been nothing I've seen this preseason that made me think things have changed. It feels like Arteta's expecting us to evolve via the changes we've made to the squad as opposed to him telling the players to pass through the middle as an example. In the end Gyökeres started playing wide and then we lost him as a goal threat.

  • Honestly speaking, after the Tottenham loss, I expected wholesale changes to take place to our tactics and we never got that.

Honestly, going into this season all the pressure is on Arteta and there was already question marks around him and his lack of rotation, but if it was just a sign of his inability to adapt, he may not last the season.

I said it in the match thread, taking off Gyökeres was bad enough but doing it to move Merino up front who didn't do nearly enough with his minutes in midfield, was criminal.

I actually feel bad for Nørgaard, he's a very decent DM but can't run midfield on his own and deserves minutes with Rice.

I also wanna see Madueke and Saka flanking Gyökeres.

It sounds like it was all doom and gloom, it wasn't. We looked decent at times, we're just not showing any progress or evolution and that's frustrating.

  • Taking off Gyökeres and moving Merino to centre forward is insanity. Why not give Gyökeres more time with his team mates?

    Who?

Let me rephrase: the dbzer0 community got active enough because a few active posters decided to make it active on the linked thread. That people started posting there afterwards doesn't contradict that its creation was completely artificial.

    Okay

It doesn't work like that, and you know it.

It works exactly like that. I'm not the king of Lemmy. People post where they wanna. When you wanted to move from ml because of the admin issues, I supported that. When you wanted to genuinely decentralise and move communities from world, I supported that. When you wanted to merge struggling communities I supported that. Now that you're trying to merge for the sake of it, I don't support that.

There are only so many active posters on a specific topic, so having everyone contributing to the same community helps fostering better discussions rather than everyone posting on a different community. The discussions that will happen in the comments in the dbzer0 won't be visible for people who follow the programming.dev community.

If you feel there's only so many active posters, go post to them instead of harassing me. Pied Piper didn't end with him annoying the rats to death.

Let's also not forget that on top of !privacy@lemmy.ml, there is also !privacy@lemmy.world that has a few regular posters, which makes the whole fragmentation even worse.

What's it gotta do with you? Why are you trying to force it?

If I were to create a community on your home instance, !privacy@lazysoci.al, would you start posting there too?

I couldn't tell you a single community on this instance, so no. I wouldn't even know it existed.

To be honest, I would care less if everyone was using Piefed,

See this is funny. Part of why I'm here is to get away from Reddit and Reddit like experiences. I don't like /ALL and don't want to interact with posters that don't understand the nauce of communities. That you want to create this linear mess is a you problem. Leave the rest of us alone. The beauty of Lemmy is the decentralisation. Multiple communities, different admins and different members.

  • This is a bit sad.

You say you are pro-decentralization, which is why you prefer to have multiple similar communities on the same topic.

But at the same time, you still post to !gunners@lemmy.world, which is on the largest Lemmy instance by far. So you still acknowledge that you prefer to post on active communities rather than "shout into the void"

People matter to me more than any objective of sense of accomplishment. Fact is, I spoke to @Astrealix@lemmy.world multiple times about moving and he's not interested. An Arsenal community wouldn't be the same without him and so I'm happy to stay posting where he is.

Nothing about !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com has been organic, I am aware as I was the main poster here for a while to make it active in the first place

The fact you're posting things that have been posted here over to pro.dev says otherwise.

Dbzer0 was selected as the main non-ml community 7 months ago in this thread: https://lazysoci.al/post/21253059?

And it thrived. Pat yourself on the back.

When you asked about moving a week or whatever ago, I said I like posting here, so why are you trying to harass me into following you elsewhere? And what happens in seven months when you change your mind? I'm supposed to move again? Just let me enjoy Lemmy. You can unfollow this community and you won't know it's there.

  • Super sad. I was posting there too

  • I really appreciate you Julian
