  • Some of the comments there are so miserable lmao. No doubt from some of the people who moan about reddit.

There's definitely a huge aura of letting the enemy of good being perfect in how people view reddit-alternatives.

  • Another thing: Why don't creators of threads have the option to admin their own threads? It's their thread! It wouldn't be appropriate for discussion threads (for obvious reasons), but for interpersonal posts and questions, it makes perfect sense for the creator to be able to have control over what appears in the thread to keep it on topic and the trolls at bay.

How do you determine if a threads an interpersonal question and post as opposed to a general topic-related post?

  • Communities are tied to an instance. How many communities will die because lemm.ee is shutting down? There is a slightly mad rush to migrate communities already.

This is what the Piefed community migration system is designed to mitigate. It makes communities completely modular, allowing a community to move their entire posting history to another instance. As soon as it can pull subscribers automatically, it'll be as if nothing happened.

  • "The series is set in a nightmarish town in the United States that traps those who enter. The unwilling residents strive to remain alive while plagued by terrifying nocturnal creatures from the surrounding forest as they search for secrets hidden within the town and beyond in the hope of finding a way out.

The series centers on Boyd Stevens (Perrineau), the self-appointed sheriff and de facto mayor, and the Matthews family, new arrivals who soon discover they are trapped along with the other existing residents and must work together to stay alive and find a way to escape."

  • I suppose I'm misusing "high concept" a bit: "a show's premise that is easily summarized with a clear, unique, and often "what-if" scenario"

Foundation isn't really "what-if" as such. It's basically a galactic empire run by a genetic dynasty called the Cleons. The rulers are all clones of each other: Dawn, Day and Dusk. "Dawn" is the youngest and learning to rule. "Day" is the ruler. "Dusk" is the elder, and the wise advisor. When Dusk dies as the eldest example, they decant a new clone who becomes the next "Dawn" and everyone else moves up an age notch.

It's actually quite different to the books, but the genetic dynasty aspect is one of the more fascinating parts of the show.
