As we are on Feddit.uk and the Twitter equivalents can be tricky until you build your free, let's have some Brits to follow (or those living here in Britland). Quite a few seem to have gone to mastodonapp.uk.
- Stephen Fry - started with enthusiasm but has tailed off
- Alice Roberts - similar recent lack of posts
- Neil Gaiman - not much posting but a lot of boosting
- Brian Cox - 1 post 8 months ago
- Charles Stross - as the above aren't very active, author Charles Stross has gone full Fediverse
- Roger Langridge - cartoonist
OK, that started with enthusiasm and petered out quickly. So here are some other less famous people doing British stuff (heavily skewed to my interests):
- Anton Bitel - film reviewer
- Rob McCallum - artist (comics, storyboards)
- The Teletext Archaeologist - yes, it does what it says on the tin
- Nearly Knowledgeable - Shropshire folklore
So have at it.
edit: fixing the links
Seems like a pretty useful website to search for communities across all instances. As the Fediverse grows I think tools like this are going to become more and more critical (and hopefully built-in to the platforms themselves).

The fediverse is a new social protocol for everyone, a diverse community of interconnected social platforms powered by ActivityPub.
Building your own feed on the Twitter equivalents (Mastodon, Calckey, Misskey, etc) can be tricky but directories like this can help you find people and, if you add yourself, it'll help people find you.
Have you started an community you want to let people know about?
Do you want your community dragged through to other instances to improve discoverability?
Do you want more followers on Mastodon or PixelTube?
Then tell us about it here.
These threads will run each Sunday.
- wedistribute.org Brands Town is Where the Brands Are
Are you sad that moving to Mastodon has deprived you of your favorite brand accounts? Don't worry, we've got you covered.
> From the perspective of the average Mastodon user, Brands Town came crawling out of a nightmare universe. Who builds a web community dedicated solely to corporate brand accounts, and nothing else? Someone clearly build this under the assumption that people wanted to talk to brands.
> Upon closer inspection, you might notice something very odd. None of the brands are normal. This place features food chains with names like Wanda’s, Uncle Chicken, and Nebraska Glazed Ham. Their technology brands are ghettotech, Lard VPN, headless Corps, Spurtly and of course, Nyetscape. And then, there are news outlets like MNNH News English, Victory News, and newcomer Ctrl Shift Media.
