Been looking around this place properly today. And it's honestly looking pretty good right now with some nice theming options too. And considering that I've also been giving Bluesky a go, it's pretty cool that you can even link that account.
Just one though. Unless I'm dumb and I'm missing something, browsing groups doesn't seem that great at all. Like, unless you know specifically what you want to search for, it looks like your only option is to scroll through posts from groups until you find something that interests or is relevant to you.
I noticed that there's a directory for users, why not one for groups? Is something like this in the pipeline? I appreciate that a platform like this is a lot more feature heavy and complicated than something like Bluesky or even Lemmy. So I'm not making demands or anything. Just an idea that I think would make it Friendica an even more complete replacement for Facebook.
Personally what I'm looking for out of this is a space where I can crap out m

Hello there,
here is my contribution to the Fediverse: a guide to install a Friendica instance using Docker and Caddy.
That should help new administrators and beginners to go online easily.
Friendica deserves a try, this instance variant is neither mastodon nor pleroma, yet after testing many including Misskey forks I tend to lean on Friendica's side for my instance... will you ?
Like this, it is really good for selfhosting or single user instance on a cheap VPS. And it may scale to many users.
Deploy Friendica on Elest.io and get a working dedicated instance in less than 3 minutes. You can Relax knowing that we are taking care for you of install, configuration, encryption, backups, software updates, os upgrades, live monitoring, alerts, live migrations without downtime ... and more! I am looking to migrate from mastodon to friendica because my mastodon server is shutting down and the idea of friendicas all in one platform approach fits my needs/wants out of my use case. Which is basically me wanting a personal account for my real identity, its not something im looking to use a lot just a way I can see the rest of the fediverse in a easy way that is separate from my internet identity.
I wouldn’t want to conclude a post about Friendica on a negative note - because despite its flaws, Friendica has fast become my favorite place in the Fediverse.
I know I only addressed the tip of the iceberg with this post (Friendica power users don’t get angry at me). There is just so much to like and appreciate about Friendica. It's that good.
Who knows, with the Fediverse getting a lot of newfound interest, maybe there will be investments in Friendica servers... or fundraising efforts to support servers and their admins. I know I would donate instantly.
Would I recommend that people already on the Fediverse try out Friendica? Absolutely. Don’t walk, run: friendi.ca
Friendica is, apparently, compatible with the Mastodon API so it's apps should work but it might not be a great fit and I've heard reports of apps not working.
I've spoken to on iOS Mastodon app developer who is looking into how their app works with Friendica but if anyone has tested any other apps that work let us know here. One complaint is Friendica's UI/UX isn't great and having more apps could be a big help.
