Jared Leto Went Method on Set of 'Tron: Ares' While Playing "Big Rockstar," Says Co-Star Jeff Bridges =====================================================================================================
During an appearance on SiriusXM's 'Literally! With Rob Lowe,' the veteran actor opened up on his experience rejoining the 'Tron' franchise opposite Leto and how he navigated his Method ways.
September 19, 2024
Jared Leto's Method acting ways on everything from Suicide Squad to Morbius have generated so much attention that when Jeff Bridges reported for work on Tron: Ares, he didn't quite know what to expect.
"I hadn't met him before. I'm saying, 'What's it gonna be like?' because he was also a producer of the show, big fan of the original, working on it for 10 years. I came in, and you know how each set has a different vibe?" Bridges asked Rob Lowe during an appearance on his podcast series, SiriusXM's Literally! With Rob Lowe. "There was an interesting vibe on this. I said, 'How's Jared? How's he working?' 'He's all right. You know, we call him Ares, you know, so he goes by his name,' and I said, 'Oh, that's interesting.'"
The Disney tentpole --- a follow-up to the 1982 seminal science-fiction film Tron and the 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy --- stars Leto as Ares, a computer program sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission to introduce artificial intelligence beings to humans. Bridges has been a part of the entire franchise by playing video game designer Kevin Flynn. Tron: Ares, directed by Maleficent: Mistress of Evil's Joachim Ronning, features a cast that also includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson.
The subject of Method acting came up as Lowe detailed what he's like on set and how it's similar to Bridges' approach. "You, I know, are like me of the school of actor where we show up and do it. There's not a lot of artifice around the edges. We've done whatever work we need to do, we're doing it in the quiet of our own privacy, so I can go and be Rob, and we can talk about the Lakers or whatever, and they can say, 'five minutes,' and we come to the set, and we do it, and then when they cut, we go, 'Hey, you know, I went to a great Mexican restaurant last night,'" he explained. "Then, there's Jared Leto, who, you know, when Jared played the Joker, I have a friend who played his best friend. He was Mr. J the whole time."
Bridges continued the thought by saying that both ways of doing it can "work beautifully," though when he showed up on Tron: Ares, he wasn't sure how to play it. "His name was Ares in the show, and I ended up going, 'Hey Air, what's happening man?'" he explained. "And I say, 'Is it OK if I call you Air?' And he says, 'Yeah, sure you can.' Then we got loose, and it was just wonderful. I mean, we jammed, you know?"
He nodded to the music in the film, prompting Lowe to confirm that Leto's character is also a rockstar. "Big rockstar, man," he confirmed. "I won't tell you 'cause we get into some music stuff in the show, and it's quite good. He's wonderful in the part though, and I'm so happy to be a part [of it]."
Playing a rockstar isn't that much of a stretch for Leto, the longtime frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars. The band kicked off its Seasons Tour earlier this year, on March 14, in Santiago, Chile, at Lollapalooza. Dates continue through the end of the year before wrapping in Dubai on Dec. 12. Most recently, they just finished a series of shows in Australia before performing in Singapore this weekend.
Tron: Ares is due for release on Oct. 10, 2025. Bridges joined Leto, Lee and Peters onstage at D23 last month to tease what's to come. "Technology and AI is omnipresent in our lives," Bridges offered during his remarks. "What a perfect time to revisit this world. Or, have this world visit us, because that's what happens in this movie."

- • 80%www.joblo.com Everything We Know About Tron: Ares
Tron: Ares has finished filming and is heading for a 2025 release. What do we know about the film so far? Let's find out.
Everything We Know About Tron: Ares ===================================
Bryan Wolford
6--7 minutes
Put your quarter on the cabinet and stake your claim as 'Next,' as Tron: Ares is on the way. Does anyone reading this even understand that reference anymore? After a long delay, we are finally getting a new film in the franchise. The road was rough to finally get back on track, but soon, we'll be back in the virtual world wishing we had a light bike. Here is everything we know about Tron: Ares.
Who Is In It? -------------
Recently, the news that Jeff Bridges would be returning to the franchise made the series' fans rejoice. Even before he came back to the project, the cast list was filled with notable faces and big names. The film is hoping to bring in new fans as well as fans of the other two films. First up is the obvious one:
Jeff Bridges ------------
With the addition of Bridges to the cast, he becomes the only legacy member (so far) of the original films. Interesting, though, as they haven't said who he is playing. Many seem to assume he'll be back as his character from the original film, Kevin Flynn. On IMDB and in reports on his joining the cast, there is no listing that he's coming back as Flynn. Could we see the return of his evil alter ego from Tron: Legacy Clu? Probably not, but it's fun to speculate.
Jared Leto ----------
Everyone's favorite meme vampire, Morbius, is taking center stage for this film. He will play the title character of Ares. With his sometimes ethereal performances in films like Blade Runner: 2049, this seems like a good role for him, as he will embody an AI being sent into the real world. I'm curious to see how he will play the character and what his POV will be like as he experiences the real world for the first time.
Gillian Anderson ----------------
Everyone's favorite red-headed FBI Agent, Gillian Anderson, joined the cast, but there has been no word on what her role will be in the film. Could she be the creator of Ares? Makes sense. We saw her as the god of Media in American Gods so she's used to living in a virtual world inside of a screen already.
Others ------
Other notable names, including Sarah Desjardins, Evan Peters, Cameron Monaghan, Greta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smith, round out the already stellar cast. With a cast like this, this film is the must-watch film of Fall 2025. With this much talent on screen and behind the camera, hopefully, we can expect a great film. Although a great cast doesn't always mean a great film. With the production team from Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil involved, they are at least experienced with making high-budget films with a lot of post-production work.
What Took So Long? ------------------
Tron: Legacy came out in 2010 and was pretty profitable for a sequel to an 80s film. Why did it take so long to get a follow-up? A lot happened between then and now. The same creative team began work on a sequel just after release. As things went on, it was confirmed that some of the cast members, like Bruce Boxleitner, Olivia Wilde, and Garret Hedlund, would be returning.
In March 2015, the sequel was officially announced, but by May, it was canceled. The reason seemed to be the underperformance of Tommorowland. Executives at Disney said there were still discussions happening about the future of the Tron franchise but nothing seemed to materialize for a sequel. During a 2017 Q&A, Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski stated that he believed the purchase of Marvel and Lucasfilm by Disney took up most of the company's attention.
With major franchises that were guaranteed money-makers, Disney seemed less interested in taking on other films that were riskier investments. If they could make a billion dollars on a new Star Wars film or an Avengers movie, why would they spend $200 million dollars on something that could very well break even? The sequel was officially dead.
Instead, it was later decided to reboot the franchise. Rather than follow up on the previous film, they would tell an all-new story set in the established universe of Tron without having to worry about keeping the story going from the previous films. Just as Tron: Ares was moving forward to film in the summer of 2023, it was delayed once again by the writer and actor strikes. It finally began production on January 1st, 2024, and wrapped on May 1st.
What's It About? ----------------
Good question. While a little bit of the story has been revealed, not much is known about the full film. What we do know indicates that this film will flip the typical formula of Tron films. Instead of someone getting pulled into the virtual world (as far as we know), an AI character will make their way into the real world. I'm sure we'll spend time in both settings, but this change could be a welcome one for viewers.
We've seen characters interacting with the virtual world through two movies, and let's be real. Most of us seem to interact more with the virtual world than the real world every day. With the discussion of AI being at the forefront of everyone's mind lately, this is the perfect time to use this subject for the Tron films. It's already a built-in part of the series showing how the over-reliance on computer technology can lead to bad things. We might as well try it again with AI in the real world.
When Can We See It? -------------------
Well, the film just wrapped on May 1st, so if you're hoping to rush out to see it before the summer ends, then you're in for some disappointment. You've still got a long wait ahead of you. At the moment, you won't be able to see it until October 10, 2025. As with anything, release dates can change. It could end up being pushed back or, in the rare case, pushed forward.

There are eight pictures to see, anything really interesting has obviously been blurred out.
I discovered this on Reddit a long time ago and thought I would share here. It contains almost 3½ hours of music.
> This is the true complete edition of the Tron Legacy Soundtrack the album version has different and missing tracks, the album has only 31 and this one has 50 with 41 extra tracks. This is the most complete version of the Soundtrack you can get. Credit goes to MetroTokyo for painfully extracting the sound from the blu-ray disc and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I have. And unlike the older post in this sub, this version has actual HQ tracks.

If you jump to about 29:30 in this video, they briefly talk about Tron: Legacy and what Kosinski can reveal of the new sequel.
What's more exciting is that he mentions they just finished a 4K remaster of Tron: Legacy. Unfortunately, this is believed to be for Disney+ only, with no news of a physical release. Some rumours say it has been done for the new Apple VR headset. As you may recall, the film was also released in 3D.
Maybe this will change when the third film hits cinemas / home media.

Belated second sequel TRON: Ares is finally shooting, and it's been announced that Gillian Anderson has joined the already starry cast.
I enjoyed the ride quite a bit and it was awesome Disney decided to do a Tron ride despite it being mostly a cult franchise for them.
Overall it was a fun ride, I do wish the queue has a bit more going on as its really simple and just a line with the halls themed like the Grid.
With the virtual line, we still had to wait an hour + to get on...half of that in a poorly shaded outdoor line that nearly killed us in the 95 degree Florida sun.
The bike seat isn't the most comfortable, but if you just lay flat and don't arch your back up it is mostly painless.
It is quite a fun ride, that I think just needs a few more tweaks in the theming dept. to be something truly stellar.
The Tron themed skins are back in Fortnite's shop. It's been over two years since they appeared.
I only just started playing last year, but I was sad to see it'd been so long since they appeared and were expected to never appear again.
I do wish we got movie characters, but possibly if these sell well again and the new movie gets traction, we will get skins of all the characters we love.
Note: If you want a male and female skin like me, if you buy one for the 1500 v-buck price, any other skin you buy is only 800 as you already own the back bling and pickaxe of the identity disk.
