My kid is in middle school, and the current thing is calling out to "chat" out loud if something interesting happens.
"Chat, is this real?"
"Chat, did you see that?"
"Chat, do you know the answer?"
Etc.
Some kids are already "terminally online".
Some kids are already "terminally online".
I say my kid is speaking Meme. It sounds a bit nicer than terminally online. But then again she's 2 and that's her third language. I'm just not so sure I can call it English when she mostly says It Is Wednesday My Dudes, Yeah Boiiii or It's the Selcuk Turks.
I honestly don't mind it, as my kid and I also bond and joke over quoting homestarrunner & other online media.
I think it's only an issue if the kids can't "turn it off" or have no other interests or hobbies other than doing things online.
Plus, it's middle school. These kids don't really have themselves figured out yet, so constantly parroting popular memes can gain them some acceptance from their peers.
Pov, the kid understood POV ♥️
pov you realise every generation is worse than the one before
Stop being an old person. Just because things are different doesnt mean it's worse. It's the same in a different way. I had pogs and power rangers. Kids now have memes and tiktok. Whatever.
Nah the tik toks are worse. We didn't have "brain rot" when we were young
pov every person that aged badly complaining about the younger generations since times immemorial.
Every single generation had senile old farts saying that about them since, at least, ancient Greece - though it's more likely that's going on since humans have the concept of generation. More often than not, the old farts were wrong.
We know about ancient Greece because the youth ignored the moral panicking of their elders and used the technological abomination of writing things down.
Presumably society was a paragon of moral virtue prior to that, not that we'd know since history was written by the people who invented writing.
I blame it on cave paintings, it filled young people's minds with fantasy images so real they could no longer tell the difference between reality and cave paintings. We never should've invented fire shadow plays, it was a slippery slope ever since.
The early hominids must have been awesome
pov maybe it's not that the younger generation is always worse, and it's just old people complaining as they usually do
Why does every past generation have to hate on the future generation
I refuse to be part of that trend. Let the kids be kids and have fun
Oh to marvel once again at life as through the eyes of a child.
be me, literal kindergartner
playing on the playground
Sometimes gen alpha is scaring me
Doesn't matter. 30 minutes on the monkey-bars is the best upper-body workout you didn't have to pay for.
Bonus: use your adult muscles to spin the merry-go-round while those kids hang on for everything they're worth. Be a hero.
