The instant pot is hardly 'doomed'. Despite its popularity it's still kind of niche. Tired of things being measured by whether or not they are an internet sensation.

The author describing preparing meals as a "Sisphyian task" is all you really need to know. If you don't like cooking no amount of new (or old!) gadgets is going to make it better. I also use my slow cooker all the time.
3Seriously, who thinks cooking is hard? Some meals are like five ingredients, six if you want to be fancy with it. As long as you have a knife, a pot and a pan you can make so many good dishes.
The only single-use appliance I will advocate for is a rice cooker, because they're cheap and they free your pot up for other things while still making perfect rice.

This is a fun read, thanks for sharing. My partner and I are not big on kitchen gadgets. We don't own a microwave or instantpot or anything else like that. We do, however, have a crockpot. But it's true, I have friends who are not cooks at all that own the instantpot. And it sits dutifully on their counter never being used. I think the point is if you enjoy cooking you will cook. And if you don't enjoy it, no gadget will change that, no matter how great it works.
5I like kitchen gadgets that serve multiple purposes, so the crockpot and air fryer I have are some of my favourites and see regular use, while my immersion blender that I was so excited to use hasn't even been plugged in... When it comes to cooking I feel like the gadgets and cookware don't get me as excited as getting to use a special ingredient or new recipe.
2I use my toaster oven fairly regularly although to be honest it's usually to reheat pizza. But one of these days I really want to upgrade it to one with a convection oven/air fryer in it. That just sounds like the best thing.
