I honestly figured they were already doing this.
They were kinda. PDX has scanners at their exit. I assumed they were also running software on most other video feeds.
Just saw this in the passport line in Amsterdam for EU citizens. Not a lot of takers, but the ones who did got through fast. Tradeoffs.
Probably not a lot of Europeans in the line you were in. This is my home airport and everyone always uses it.
Alternatively, you might have seen the iria scan line, which is part of a service the airport offers, which you have to pay for.
As a twin I bet I can guess where those 3% failures are.
