Stand alone PVE/VM or New VM on existing system

Sorry noob here. I’m looking to create a super locked down torrent client that can download and seed torrents from a local SSD.

Ideally I would still like to use arr family safely to manage my files and transfer from the local SSD to my NAS for cold storage and media streaming.

My main concern is security with the exposed port and connection for Qbittorrent to the outside world. What threat vectors need to be addressed? Does having Qbittorrent on a separate Proxmox system provide any additional protection from the other VM’s and network? I would be using Gluetun and a port forwarding VPN for torrents. I would also put the VPN connection on its own VLAN separate from my network, but how do I allow torrent management and transfers to my NAS?

Thanks for all the help!
