My expenses : review request

I'd like to use this app and looks fine.

Concerns are:

Is this app still open source ?
How to verify any backdoor / sending my data to a remote location.

I think the app is good and gonna purchase it, but I need to confirm the above.

First of all, the app is open source: https://github.com/mtotschnig/MyExpenses. In addition, the apps available in the official F-Droid repo are subject to regulations. And with the app there is no hint, with undesirable features. In addition, the app is also built again by the F-Droid team and if something is noticeable there, the building is interrupted.

I can recommend the app in my experience. I also purchased a license. It will connect to licencedb.myexpenses.mobi and validate the license. After that, you can block the app traffic with a DNS filter app (personalDNSfilter, RethinkDNS, etc.). At least that's what I did.

Does anyone have any other recommendations to compare?

Before i switched to GrapheneOS i was using:

  Yes. It works with sandboxed play services. I was doing that for a while in the work profile. Running all that is just to much for my Pixel 4A 5G.
  
  Besides the look/layout, I liked how it kept track of credit card statement dates.

Just tried out the app, is there a way to add repeat expenses like rent?

- There are three icons in vertical mode in the upper right. The one in the middle is for templates, there you can create entries and then plan at the bottom. However, it requires permission to the calendar.

About it's telemetry, I don't know. But considering it is open source, you can probably just google some third party who has looked into this. I had a google and found this: https://emteria.com/learn/what-is-f-droid
