Help with a uTorrent Issue

I'm on Windows 10 and using uTorrent 3.6, build 47134. When I click 'get this torrent' on piratebay, the Add New Torrent window comes up just fine, but the box on the right that's supposed to contain a list of files is blank, and there's a spinning wheel beneath. If I click "okay" anyway, it doesn't download.
The problem started a while back, and I had to wait several minutes for the files to show up before it would work, but the time that takes has been dramatically increasing.
I'm using NordVPN on the computer in general and also using a NordVPN proxy server in uTorrent, if that's relevant.
I'm aware that uTorrent is not the most highly recommended program and I do intend to switch to qbit, but that is a longer-term thing and I'm here looking for a shorter-term solution, if possible.
